FreeGIS.net The development activities for the compatibility of INSPIRE specification for the multilingual View Services of the Map Server open source Software has been completed.
MapServer has been successfully extended to support the compatibility of the INSPIRE specifications for the multilingual View Services (TG View Services 3.0). The functionality is understood by the official MapServer sources and is available in all versions starting from 6.2.0.

VM: Virtual Machine
All software tools that has been developed by FreeGIS.net for publishing multilingual geographic data according to the OGC standards and INSPIRE specifications will be available on a DVD. The DVD is basically a virtual machine, the components are all installed and configured and the related documentation is also provided. The virtual machine is now being updated with the latest versions of the different components and will be distributed during the following events that are scheduled for autumn 2013 : ASITA, ANCI's Annual Conference , GFOSS. The SW FreeGIS.net tools are all based on open source applications and released under an open source license.
FreeGis.net's education events
The last two FeeGis.net's training events takes part in November . These events are about issues related to the OGC standards, INSPIRE specifications and the free geographical software and will be organized during the South Tyrolean Free Software Conference (SFSCON) . They are addressed to GIS managers of public administrations and private companies, who want to know more about the standardization of data and geographic services and the tools that were developed by FreeGIS.net. The participants receive a DVD containing the training material and the virtual machine with the applications which were previously developed within the project.
The Open Talk's position paper "Smart communities & Open Geo Data" has been published on the Wiki of "Stati Generali dell'Innovazione"(General States of Innovation)
The meeting will be held at the Academy "Cassa di Risparmio"(Sparkasse Strasse 16) on Friday, September 27th as part of the Innovation Festival in Bolzano, http://www.innovationfestival.bz.it/it/index.asp ;The beginning is scheduled at 14:00.

Let's contribute to the Manifesto for the Digital Agenda in South Tyrol!
In addition to the position paper, the same wiki page presents the " Manifesto for the Digital Agenda in South Tyrol". In fact, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano in collaboration with ‘Stati Generali dell'Innovazione' has started a participatory process for the definition of the 'Digital Agenda in South Tyrol. Conference "Open Data & Smart location"
The conference ""Open Data & Smart location aware applications: Opportunities for Development and New Services " will be held as part of the exhibition-conference "Smart Mobility World, Turin " on September 27th http://www.itnexpo.it/itn/agenda/. This initiative wants to review the Italian situation and show how to create new services and business opportunities in the development of software capable to maximize the open data.
The Conference program 2013 AMFM GIS Italy
The 2013 edition of AMFM GIS Italy Conference , Rome September 26 th http://www.amfm.it/, will be about Building Information Modeling (BIM), multiscalarity and 3D. In addition, the conference will host a panel on "INSPIRE in Italy", to which the protagonists of the implementation process for the Directive were invited. This was a very discussed topic. The annual meeting of the Italian community of OpenStreetMap this year in Rovereto (4th to 6th October)
OSMIT 2013 is open to anyone who wants to share his experience with OpenStreetMap and collaborative sharing of knowledge. During the event workshops on the use of OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia are organized. Conference GFOSSDAY 2013
The sixth edition of the Italian Conference on the geographic software and free geographic data (GFOSS DAY 2013) will take place in Bologna from October 10th to 11th 2013( meeting rooms of the region Emila –Romagna V.le della Fiera,8) . Conference ASITA: special session about "IDT and smart cities"
The program of the 17th conference ASITA (Riva del Garda, 5-7 November)is now being defined . The Federation ASITA in collaboration with ‘Stati Generali dell' Innovatiozione' will propose a special session "Spatial Data Infrastructure for innovative spatially enabled smart cities ".
